What will my visit with Dr. Nabavi entail?
Upon your arrival, you will check in with the front desk who will make sure you have filled out appropriate paperwork. Once this is complete, your chart will be given to a technician who will ask you preliminary questions, do certain parts of the exam including vision, past medical history and your medications. You may need additional testing depending one your visit which is typically done prior to seeing Dr. Nabavi. Once this is all complete, Dr. Nabavi will complete an exam and consultation with you. He will educate you on what he sees as the cause of your present issue, and he will provide options of how to proceed. Should surgery be the decided option, you will likely meet with his surgery scheduler to discuss the details of your surgery.
Does Dr. Nabavi take my insurance?
Dr. Nabavi is on a majority of insurance plans available in the state of Ohio. When you call to make your appointment, our office can confirm that he is a provider on your plan.
Will Dr. Nabavi make sure that our medical or surgical plan is covered by my insurance?
Dr. Nabavi's office will take the steps necessary to assure that any procedure recommended is covered by insurance. In certain instances, your insurance plan may not cover a procedure, in which case you will receive a quote for the procedure.
Will Dr. Nabavi perform the procedure the same day as my consultation?
Typically, Dr. Nabavi will need to schedule in office procedures at a later time to allot the appropriate time necessary to complete the procedure. Any procedures that require an operating room will need to be scheduled during or after your consultation.
Does Dr. Nabavi do cosmetic evaluations?
Absolutely! However, we do ask you to clarify that you are interested in a cosmetic consultation when you make your appointment so that we make sure to allot the appropriate amount of time for your visit.
What is a typical surgery day like in the outpatient operating room.
The patient is called the day or two before surgery with a time to arrive. They typically get preadmission testing the day of surgery and then come to the surgery center. An IV is placed to allow us to provide intravenous sedation in most cases. Patients are typically awake but comfortable during their procedure.
What is recovery like after surgery.
The recovery time after surgery varies from patient to patient and depends on the surgery that is performed as well. Typically patients have bruising that is mostly gone in two weeks, and swelling that is mostly resolved in 4 weeks. There may be some small bumps along the incision and that are typically gone after 6 months.
We ask that you avoid heavy lifting more than a gallon of milk and bending below the waist for 1 week after surgery.
